At some point, I feel like each and every one of us grieves a little bit when clothing looks totally precious on the rack, but when we try them on, it's a lose-lose situation. As sad as it is for clothes buyers everywhere, it is bound to happen every now and then! Cheer up, buttercup, there are so many styles that do look good, we don't need to focus on the few that don't flatter us! :)
With that being said, here are the fashion rules as written by yours truly:
1) Only buy pieces you love! If you don't absolutely LOOVVVEEE it in the store, you'll only like it less and less when you get it home. That, my friends, is a waste of money.
2) You don't want your clothes to be too tight or revealing. This simply draws attention to our bodies, and chances are, it's not the kind of attention you truly want. Also, tight clothes are NOT comfortable, and you should NOT be able to look at yourself and say, "My goodness! I feel like a stuffed boudain." <--Yes, that just happened! I DO live in Texas, y'all! :)
3) In regards to rule 2, you also do NOT want your clothes to be too loose! No, pants falling off and baggy shirts are not adorable, in case you didn't already know.
4) Don't be afraid to accessorize! Scarves, hats, flowers, jewelry, and cute purses are all must haves! One way to accessorize is by adding a pop of color to your outfit! For example, if you are wearing jeans and a black shirt, you could wear a red necklace and a red purse for an extra "pop."
5) Mix and match pieces to pair different things together! You don't always have to wear the exact same outfits! When you mix it up, you automatically expand your wardrobe because clothing looks different when paired with other pieces.
6) Create your own style! Wear what you like! If you see something on another person that is cute, don't be afraid to pair similar pieces together. Fashion is all about taking risks, so fly, little fashionistas, fly! :)
The ultimate goal is to elongate your body, not make yourself look shorter than you are! Also, most people want to look thinner, no matter what size they are. Wearing clothes that fit properly can do this for you! :)
